Johnstone's Trade Aqua Undercoat is an innovative, water-based undercoat ideal for interior and exterior wood and metals. It looks, feels, and applies like a traditional undercoat but is quick-drying - reducing application time. Designed for use under the Johnstone's Trade Aqua Water Based Gloss or Satin for best results but also suitable for use under other water-based paints. A low odour, low VOC solution.

No, the Johnstone's Trade Aqua Water Based Undercoat contains 8% oil.

Can you paint this undercoat over sanded previous oil based paint.

We wouldn't recommend it, for best results continue with an oil based product or strip the wood fully before using the Aqua undercoat.

Can I use it on fence then paint over it with fence paint

We would recommend that you apply Johnstone's Trade Joncryl Primer before painting over with fence paint as the Aqua undercoat is best before applying Aqua paint.

How long is drying time before you can apply first coat

Johnstone's Trade Aqua Water Based Undercoat White is ready for recoat or the first coat of paint after 4-6 hours to allow for full drying.

Can I use this as MDF primer

No, we recommend Johnstone's Trade Joncryl Primer for MDF or a specific MDF primer instead.
